Heather Skelton to speak to AAPC on False Claims Act

Ms. Skelton will be speaking to the Carolina Coders, a local chapter of the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) on November 17, 2011 at Myers Park Baptist Church. Ms. Skelton will address the False Claims Act and Civil Monetary Penalties Law, with emphasis on how correct coding and billing are involved as well as the responsibility of the coder.

Independent Physicians of the Carolinas to feature Heather Skelton in July

Heather Skelton will be speaking to the Independent Physicians of the Carolinas on several occasions in July. Ms. Skelton anticipates speaking on the topic of negotiating managed care contracts.

Heather will speak to the physicians on July 20 in Ballantyne at 6:30 p.m.; to administrative personnel at noon on July 21 ; and to north Charlotte phyisicans on July 27 at 6:00 p.m. in Huntersville.

Heather Skelton to speak to Employers Association in Charlotte

Heather Skelton will appear at the Employers Association Lunch & Learn on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at 11:30 p.m. Heather will bring attendees up to date on recent changes in HIPAA pursuant to the HITECH Act, and on recent enforcement of the privacy rules. A question-and-answer period will be included.

Healthcare attorney Heather Skelton will be at the Tri-State Healthcare Management Conference being held in Hilton Head, South Carolina from August 7-10, 2011. Ms. Skelton will be participating in the Health Information Exchange Panel Discussion.

The first of our Spring Roundtable series will be on Thursday, March 11th, in which Heather will lead a discussion about the HITECH Act – Part 2. She will review the specific action items needed to achieve compliance with the most recent regulations, go over policies that may need to be implemented, discuss whether you will need new Business Associate Agreements, as well as share what can be expected regarding HIPAA in 2010 and beyond.
