BCBSNC to Close Field Offices
June 29th, 2009
In an effort to contain administrative costs, BCBSNC has announced it will close the Hickory, Greenville and Greensboro field offices in the next 17 months, with the Wilmington office under review. Some Blue Cross staff may work from home in these locations.
It is not yet known how physician office issues will be resolved under the new structure, or whether this reflects a larger trend in health plan staffing and organization. In North Carolina, United Healthcare and Aetna have greatly expanded their physician advocate and provider relations staff in the last several years.
