Skelton and Byron to Lead National Managed Care Symposium April 9-11, 2008

The National 2008 Managed Care Contracting Symposium sponsored by the American Institute of Healthcare Compliance (AIHP) will feature Heather Skelton, healthcare attorney and Joanne Byron, CEO of Health Care Consulting Services, Inc.

The symposium being held in Charlotte will open with an informal forum discussion on practice management challenges in 2008 the evening of Wednesday, April 9th with both featured speakers.

Legal Aspects of Contract Negotiations featuring Heather Skelton on April 10th discusses:

• The legal elements of a contract, helping to decipher the “legalese” used in MCO contracts;
• A contract checklist including questions every executive, coder or provider should ask before engagement in a managed care contract;
• The components of a contract, negotiation strategies, enforcing your contract, renegotiating tactics;
• And review of web site resources as well as the status of insurance companies.

On April 11, Joanne Byron will present Coding, Reimbursement and Financial Aspects of Contract Negotiations. Bryon will include:

• How to stay at the top of your game;
• Dealing with the “take it or leave it” tactics of insurers;
• Grading payers –performance measurements to take to the negotiating table;
• Avoiding Silent PPOs;
• Administrative simplification;
• Getting involved in reducing cost of managing care for patients under managed care policies;
• Contract language and prompt pay laws – what’s fair?
