Physician Ranking Program Revised by CIGNA Healthcare
November 3rd, 2007
CIGNA has signed an agreement with New York Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo, which has implications for its physician rating program nationwide. The agreement requires CIGNA to ensure rankings are not based solely on cost, to disclose to consumers how the program works, to provide a physician appeal process and to appoint a “Ratings Examiner” to ensure compliance with the agreement. In North Carolina, certain physicians have received the “CIGNA Care Network designation” which is based upon both quality and cost.
